Their brief was simple. A black kitchen with an impact. They envisioned a space that would serve as a sleek and sophisticated retreat, complementing the region's natural elegance and high-end lifestyle.

Designed by Selina Na from our Christchurch team, this kitchen embodies modern through a dark palette with a focus on entertaining and seamless design.A key highlight is the porcelain stone backsplash, elevating the entire space.The materials featured were selected to create a cohesive look that would tie in with the black steel barn door leading to the pantry, a key feature of the space.

Key Features & Material Selections:

Benchtop, Splashback & Island Waterfall | Laminex NZ Noir Desir Laminam: This porcelain top was chosen for its dramatic presence, serving as the centerpiece with a cascading waterfall edge on the island.

Extruded Handles | Mardeco International Limited Calabria Handle Black: To achieve a sleek, handless look, these extruded black handles were a perfect choice. They provide a comfortable grip while maintaining the kitchen's smooth, minimalist lines.

Cabinets | Melteca Black Puregrain: The rich, textural "Black Puregrain" finish on the cabinetry provides depth and visual interest. It offers a subtle, grainy texture that absorbs light, enhancing the kitchen's dramatic atmosphere without feeling flat.

Sink | Häfele Home NZ Subline: A black Silgranit sink was selected to complement the dark benchtop and cabinetry. The undermounted sink ensures a high-end look and lasting functionality.

The Outcome

The completed kitchen successfully fulfilled the client’s vision for a high-impact space. The dark palette and combination of materials create a sophisticated retreat ready to be enjoyed.
